I've noticed that when I stand for a certain amount of time I start feeling weird inside. I am 13 weeks pregnant and I always feel air around my ribs and my sides and the air would just move in certain places. My mom said it could be the baby finding a comfortable spot. But i'm only 13 weeks and i'm not even that big yet. I used to weigh 120 and gained 3 lbs. So I was wondering if it could be my baby? I'm kind of scared that it's probably not my baby. Anyway, if it wasn't.. Is this bad for my baby?

I don't think that what you are feeling is actually air, otherwise it would be causing you a lot more problems than just pain. Your baby is most likly too small for it to be casuing you any pain from moving, as you thought. I have had two children, and from what I can remember of pain that I experianced, it is most likly a combination of your body adjusting to your growing uterus and finding space for that, and possibly integestion. I don't really feel that this is anything that you should be super allarmed about, because you would have other symptoms as well. But on the other hand, it is always better to know what's going on when you are pregnant. In the event that there is something wrong, the sooner you know the better so you can fix anything that may be going wrong. You also need to know soon to put your mind at ease. It is very important to avoid as much stress as possible while you are pregnant. The best thing for you to do it to call your doctor and explain what is happening and they may be able to tell you over the phone what it is, or schedule an appointment to see you asap. Don't be afraid to call your doctor anytime, day or night if you have any questions or you are feeling differnt any pain. I always worried about waking up my doctor bu then she explained to me that all doctors know when they decide to become a doctor that they will have to deal with being disturbed in the middle of the night and they have accepted that as part of their job. If they didn't want to be bothered, then they would not be a doctor. So please give your doctor a call and you will know for sure what is going on. Good Luck and congratulations on your baby.

I'm not a doctor, but I'm in the medical field and I'm an expectant mom about 10 weeks along. What you are feeling is normal and your mom is right about the baby moving and finding a spot. Your uterus is about the size of a grapefruit rite now and your baby is about 3 and 1/2 inches. Considering your size you will be able to feel the baby earlier than a woman with more weight on her. In about five weeks you will be able to feel the baby actually kick, not just move around inside of you. Enjoy these feelings. They help you bond with your new baby, they are a gift. Good Luck!!

No it's not your baby. Your baby is still verrrryyyyy small. I know what feeling your are talking about. It is more then likely your intestines moving around. Our bodies go through really weird stuff when we are pregnant. Your fine! Ask your doctor next time you go in for an appointment to put you at ease. Only time you have to worry this early is cramping down there or bloody discharge.

I'm with your Mom, the baby is starting to find its spot.

I have never heard of air in your ribs unless you have been
injured and a lung is punctured. It is probably amniotic fluid
filling in and moving around the baby.

When I was 8 and 9 months with my daughter she would (head
down) put her heels on my rib cage and push till they slide off and popped ,you have so much interesting fun to experience.

How would you know what are in your ribs feels like? That is too weird. If you feel like something could be wrong with you or your baby you really need to discuss it with your doctor.

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Relax, your body goes through changes - including your digestion system- so it could be gas. It feels different inside. The weight is fine - you will gain 10 to12 kgs (multiply that by 2.2 for lbs). Hey its a great moment enjoy it.

There is no air around your ribs. You are experiencing gas caused by the placenta impinging on your intestines. It is uncomfortable but completely normal. If you feel any worry at all, go see your OB/GYN.
