Ain't nothing wrong with older PC's!!!! Just buy your upgrades when you can afford them and when they are on sale. Some people on here(not all) have the luxury of having mommy and daddy pay for all their stuff, so they do't know what they're talking about.

You mean an upgrade, don't you?
You update software editions.
Well, now let's see, the old 32 bit technology now has twice it's speed with the new 64 bit tech. You upgrade the chip and you need to upgrade the motherboard. And the RAM of the old 34 bit tech isn't compatible with the 64 bit motherboard and chip you went in for, so, that's another thing you'll need to change. And anything under 1 gig RAM is a waste nowadays, so that's some more addtion. And for gaming and graphics, it's better for you to have something like 2 gigs RAM.
Of course, you know that Wnidows XP itself needs 500MB Ram.
The onboard graphics card with the new Motherboard, thankfully, is good enough otherwise, you'd need to change that. And so too's the LAN card that's inbuilt nowadays.
So, take a wild guess!
The junked parts of your old comp aint gonna be worth much, if the guys will give you a trade in. Simply because they can't find somone who'll want them.
Guess you're saving on the monitor, the keyboard and the mouse ... and of course the cabinet!
Oh, but you want better graphics! So, old monitor goes.
So, let's see, we're just a cabinet, keyboard and mouse short of a new computer!
Cheers.
Ooops, I forgot the hdd and drives!

You can always upgrade the RAM and get a larger hard drive, however Dell's are really cheap these days - like starting at $299. By the time you upgrade memory, buy a new hard drive and a speedier read/writable DVD drive you may as well look into a new one. The Dell online outlet store also has some good bargains on refurbished systems that come with a warranty.

I'm afraid you will find that replacing the computer will be cheaper than upgrading it. Your first port of call is certainly the RAM which you should be looking to boost to at least 512MB and probably 1GB. However for gaming you need a far better processor and graphics cards which realistically will involve replacing the motherboard. At this point I would say a new machine is really your only option. You should be looking at 3GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a graphics cards with 128-256MB of RAM.

this type of machine is very hard to upgrade since it doesnt have an AGP slot for graphics card so for an upgrade.
1. a new case
2. forget about option 1 just get a new machine and sell that 1
since it would be better in the long run since if you dont know about parts etc and how to build a machine it will be very complex to give a good answer.

Add to the memory for one. Make sure your OS is updated, for two. Lastly, you can add a new graphics card with no problem, as the additon of a new card will most likely disable the onboard card.
That's about it as a 1.69GHz is quick enough to play just about anythig out right now.

Marvinator has put in a nutshell. Right on the line. Just follow that. Maybe you could upgrade the RAM to 512 MB, but it might cost you that arm and the leg too.

All domicile windows machines will decelerate the longer you run them. greater and greater methods taking on processor time and ability. ideal element you're able to do is do a sparkling set up. not something runs greater perfect than a cleanly put in gadget. No domicile windows laptop gets faster the longer you utilize it. Over the months/years, they're going to continuously get slower. you may additionally attempt to place a faster CPU, upload greater RAM and so on. yet truthfully, it is not going to get lots greater perfect. purchase an i7 and be carried out with it.

A PCI video card will make the BIGGEST DIFFERENCE in your game play.......
Also, your motherboard has the INTEL 845G chipset. INTEL ahs updates as well as Accelerator files for that chipset! The LAST link listed below will take you to their website. I've installed their accelerator files aon a few computers and it DOES make a difference.....
