Cat Stevens wrote the song, and was on his album, "New Masters", but the first best selling/popular version was recorded by Keith Hampshire from Canada in 1973. I still say its the best recording ever...even better than my fave guy, Rod Stewart who recorded it in 1975...Sheryl Crow's version is terrible!!
