depends on the size of the space you are trying to cool. If you have a large area and your ac is only a 5,000 btu than you simply dont have enough power to cool eficiently. Check the space it says it can cool on the box. Also try checking the filter..if its clogged it may not cool as it should. Another thing might be the coils have frozen. To fix this turn the fan on high and let the ac run at the highest thermostat setting for 2-3 hours..this should melt the ice build up on the coils. Hope this helps.

It could need freon. If so, call an HVAC company and they will add more. If it does need freon, you may have a freon leak, which can be upwards of $600 to fix.
If the house was cooling down well before and it's not now, that may be the issue. Best solution call a reputable HVAC company and have them check it out.

If you mean central air, it may need coolant, for that, I would recommend having a heating and cooling guy check it. If you look up the model, you may be able to find info on coolant type and how to put it in, but the equipement may cost you as much as having someone else do it.

It doesn't require "freeze". It uses a refrigerant. And that is nothing you want to work on yourself. The first thing you can do is make sure the thing is clean. Check the heat exchangers and clean anything that looks dirty. Considering how little you know about the thing, you should just call a heating and cooling expert and have them look at it before you kill yourself.

You mean freon? Maybe. Depending on where you live, you may not be able to do that yourself. Generally speaking, however, if you are low on freon, you probably have a leak. That stuff doesn't just disappear. You should really call someone ot come look at it.

Youo definately need to call a repairman! Anyone with your level of knowledge should not try to attempt anything more then adjusting the thermostat, and even that is questionable.

your better off calling a service person to have it looked at, it could just have the core clogged or in need of free-on (sp?) which has to be done by someone that is certified or deals in free-on. that's not anything you can buy over the counter at any hardware store because of ozone hazards.

It might need freon, but if you have to ask the question - "Where do I install it", then you don't have the necessary knowledge (or tools) you need to do it, without causing possible damage to the AC unit (or yourself)
