Here are some REALLY good, and very inexpensive ways to treat most acne at home. Try each method (unless you’re allergic to the ingredients) until you find one that works best for you. Good luck =) BTW, I know some of these may sound bizarre but try them…what have you got to lose other than the acne!!

1. Put toothpaste on your acne before going to bed. (Make sure it is paste not gel). It should reduce the swelling of acne noticeably.

2. Dab egg whites on your acne and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight. It’s supposed to pull the infection out of the blemish.

3. Wash acne infected areas twice a day with warm salt water. This reduces oils in the skin and helps to dry the acne up without further agitation.

4. Use ice on acne before going to bed. This works best on pimples that have not yet formed a head. It reduces swelling and helps to prevent scarring.

5. Wash and dab acne with cotton balls that have been soaked in vinegar. Let dry; do not wash off immediately.

6. Place strawberries leaves over your acne and the alkalinity will help to reduce the swelling.

There is a book by Dr. Perricone (he's well-known and often appears on public TV but I can't recall his first name). While in a Whole Foods store I saw one of his books and spent time looking thru it. He addressed the holistic and natural approach to acne (and other skin conditions such as rosacea). The book contained his recommendations for topical treatments, supplements, diet and all subjects relating to these problems. I was very impressed because he also had many photos to show the improvements. I don't have any skin problems but if I did, I would go to amazon.com and buy the book. It probably costs less there even with shipping charges. Good luck!

I used proactiv & it didnt work for me. I had cystic acne. I then foung MD Forte Glycare Perfection Gel (approx. $20). I order it online at www.skinstore.com. It is amazing acne healed in 1-2 days. I apply a tiny amount all on the problem areas & it keeps my skin from future brakouts. The tube will last about 2-3 months. Proactiv is $50/month if I remember.

If its a huge problem I suggest u go see a dermatologist because I was in da same situation b4. I would use over-the counter but my acne was too bad for those medications to handle it. Its better to leave it in da hands of a doctor because u can risk getting more scars while u wait.

I've had a big problem with it for YEARS & I just found something a lil while ago & tried it. Go to www.acne.org & seriously try this guy's regimen. Nothing has EVER seemed to work for me but this one actually is! I use the Purpose bar soap that's on his recommended list & the neutrogena moisturizer. He says to use neutrogena 2.5% benzoyl peroxide cream but if your face can handle it, use Oxy 10% benzoyl peroxide. I believe it's oxy max or something like that...it's one I've been using. You can find all the items at your local Walgreens/Walmart/Target.

Ok, I have the perfect solution... Go to your local Walgreens or something. Buy some rubbing alcohol and cotton pads. And ask the persoin that works there where the face cleaners are. And buy the Top Care Deep Cleaning Astringent. It works really fast and it is really cheap.

Drink lots of water. Take garlic pills and Acidophilus. Check the stresses in you life and try to do relaxing things. Keep skin clean and eat lots a live food, fresh fruits and veggies. My bias is to say cut down on meat. My sister is almost sixty, complains that she still has acne but has young beautiful looking skin to the rest of us.

There are many products out there for acne, Like me you just have to find the right one for your skin.It takes time, money and more patience.. Ive tried Proactive,Murad,Acne Free,Natures Cure, and they didnt work well enough.

I get better results just using a facewash twice a day.

You could try Proactiv. There's a lot of them out there right now, but I can't remember any of the names. If it gets too severe, you could go see a doctor. He would probably prescribe Differin.. which is a cream that basically does the same thing.

My daughter had the same problem, she stopped eating chocolate, brown soda and greasy fried foods. She just uses Clean and Clear face wash and her acne has disappeared. I also hear proactive works very well.
