make sure you are using a newer blade not an old one, lather with shaving cream, shave only one direction, then relather and shave the other way. (your allowed to shave both ways cause the hair grows in all ways!!)

There are several reasons why your armpits appear red after shaving.

#1 - Your shaving cream/gel is irritating your skin. You could try switching to another brand to see if it works better.

#2 - Your razor blade is rusty/dirty, and hence irritates your skin. You need to change your razor blade if this is the case.

#3 - Your hairs are becoming ingrown. One of the problems with shaving is that sometimes the hair does not grow back out properly, and becomes ingrown and irritates the skin. If this is the case you should exfoliate your armpits thoroughly and use a pair of tweezers to pluck out any ingrown hairs.

#4 - You are "over-shaving". The maximum number of times you should run your razor over an area is three. Anything beyond that and you might scrape off the more hardy top layer of skin on your armpits. This will cause the armpits to feel sore and raw, and cause it to go red. The bumpiness might just be a slight rash, a signal your body is trying to tell you to stop shaving that area so much. In this case, you should change to a sharper razor so that you don't have to run your razor over the same spot again and again to get rid of hairs. Also you can buy a razor more suitable for women, that pick up the slightest hairs in contours.

Remember also that after shaving, you should give the area a cleaning to prevent lose skin cells from clogging up, and to moisturize after that to soothe the skin. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I sometimes have that problem. First try using a body scrub on the area & then wash it off. Then use plenty of shaving cream & a razor with a good blade. Try to replace your blades every once in a while cause a dull one does not work as well & causes irritation.

That happened to me when I was young and first started shaving my underarms. There are over-the-counter creams that you can by at any pharmacy but the bumps will go away and no new ones will form within a few months.

Try using a razor for sensitive skin. Also, try a thin coat of vaseline afterwards to act as a moisture barrier and reduce friction.

Sensitive shaving lotion, then powder. not deorderant for a few days. That way the bumps and sores will be gone and your under arms wont hurt so bad.

try waxing, it leaves the area smoother than shaving does because it pulls the hair out from below the top layer of skin..this is the easiest and most convenient way of removing hair..

that happens to me also, try using more soap when you shave and put on deodorant afterwards. Or the Intuition razor helps because it applies lotion to your skin while you shave.

THIS SOUNDS STRANGE BUT MAKE SURE YOU WASH IN COLD WATER AND TRY NOT TO USE ANY HOT WATER AT ANY TIME . THIS WILL FEEL CREEPY BUT IT KEEPS THE RASH DOWN . ALSO GET YOU'RE ARM PITS WAXED . IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND 1 TUG ON EACH ARM PIT AND YOUR DONE .
