I dont agree with the CSA. OK, there are some genuine cases where people have these kids and then one parent leaves. But in this day and age people are better off not working and living off benefits.
A person I worked with was having a HUGE amount of his wages taken off him for 'child support', when it was proven that his child was begin neglected ( he wasnt allowed to see his child) and the money he was paying was going towards her nights out and drink and drugs.
Money collected for a child should be put into a trust fund for the when the child turns 18. That way you know the money you are being forced to hand over is going to be spent on the child and not on the parents.
Please understand I'm not saying this is the case for everyone - but if people are not allowed to see their kids than for no other reason than the parents dont get along they shouldnt get a penny. they are denying their children their mother/father and it makes me sick. If its money these people want - they should get out there and find a part time job.

There are mechanisms in place to collect child support from absent (or noncustodial) parents. I worked for a local human services agency for 11 years and fought the child support battle with my ex for 17 years. The laws are there. What the system lacks is judges willing to fairly and unilaterally enforce them.
Our county Family Court judge would threaten time after time after time ... that the "next time you come in front of me for nonpayment of child support you'll spend 6 months in jail." What a joke. And all the absent parents knew it would be years before they would spend any time in jail, if ever.
My daughter-in-law's ex was sent to jail twice for 3 months each time. He freely admits he'd rather go to jail than pay child support for their 3 kids. He always works jobs where he gets paid under the table. The last couple of years he's worked a regular job so she gets 1/2 of his income tax refund. The other half goes to the child he had after their marriage broke up.

This is a mans world and the system is designed to look the other way on many occasion. I'm in a situation where I have raised my 20 year old son without child support for eighteen years and it has been hard on me. The government talks about how they have enforcements, well where are they? I am not on welfare and I don't receive food stamps. All all fathers who are not in their children's lives should be made to help support their child. Better yet, they should be willing to help because it's their blood and they should not make their children suffer, struggle, or want.

It isn't just absent fathers you know.., there are plenty of women who don't pay up..
The only reason the CSA came into existence was because of out of date judges in the family courts who used to think a parent with care could make do with £7 a week for 6 kids :-)
Personally I think they should hand the CSA to Global Video., one day late back and they are on you like a ton of bricks.

I literally heard on the radio 10 minutes ago that they are replacing the CSA with a different agency which will focus more on collecting unpaid maintenance.
We can only wait and see if there will be any improvement.

If couples would engage their brains before they hopped in the sack, and actually gave whether or not they want to have children any thought, there would never have been any need for the CSA to have existed in the first place.

the csa dont chase absent fathers - too expensive - they track parents who are most likely paying something and take more off them, or they take money from parents whose whereabouts are known by the custodial parent. Bunch of bandits. And i speak as the parent with custody.

God knows, what a right muck up they made of that. Now by the looks of they are scrapping it all together. Its a disgrace, I have had to go for 10 years without any money from my Ex at all.
