My baby is 6 months old, I started her on cereal and fruits and veggies about a month ago. I can't notice it by just looking at her but I notice it in all her recent pictures. She is almost sitting up all by herself and I want to take her to get her pictures done professionally soon, I just don't want her nose to look orange in them. Iv'e tried limiting her carrots and other orange colored foods but her nose still looks orange. Has anybody experienced this problem and if so what should I do?

Are you feeding her a lot of carrots and sweet potatoes? My friend's son would only eat those and his whole face was orange for a while. She should be fine but try to get her to eat other fruits and veggies to balance it out.

My best friends son had this problem, it started when he was about 5 or 6 months old... The doctors told her that it was because he ate to many carrots... so they cut all orange foods out of his diet.. but it started getting worse, his cheeks started getting orange, his whole face... they found out about a month later that he has Leukemia... The child turning orange or yellowish is one of the main signs of Leukemia... Not to scare you, but i think i would take her to the doctor... and not Kaiser, casue they are the hospital that told me firend there was nothing wrong with her son...
Good Luck!

I have known other moms who had babies like this and usually it is beta carotene. I know you said you've tried limiting it but that's all I know of. Luckily orange skin is the only "problem" with too much, as far as I know there is no 'overdose' amount, so you don't need to be concerned with that. Look into other foods that contain beta carotene in it - but either way it could just wear off eventually as her nutritional needs grow.

Try putting more rice cereal in her cereal bottles, and limit her intake of beta carratine<-sp? It doesn't nessiceraly have to be an orange food to turn her orange.

I had a friend whose kids did this- from all the orange veggies she was feeding. Might take a while to get it all out of the babies system.
