This is my first pregnancy and I am 19 yrs. old. I went to Raging Waters yesterday and felt that it was wrong for me to go under water. I wanted to go swimming really bad but I couldn't. So what I did was, I went to 2 - 3 ft. and sunk half of my body down for awhile. Is this bad for my baby? I hope I didn't harm him/her in any way. I'm really worried.

Swimming while pregant is actually great. The baby will float and take a lot of pressure off your back and hips.

The baby is floating in liquid anyway.

Going on waterslides and stuff probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Don't worry. It's actually advisable for pregnant women to do some light exercises in preparation for an easier birth, and to maintain optimal health. You most certainly can go swimming 3 times a week at least, or even go to the gym for some light exercises, such as walking on the threadmill. Swimming is actually one of the best form of exercise for an expectant mother, as it also helps the mother to relax. Your baby will be fine and well protected within the amniotic sac. Just try not to overdo the exercise (your body will let you know if you're overstraining yourself), and you'll be just fine.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! :)

Swimming is not only perfectly safe, it's an excellent form of excercise while pregnant. There's no need to worry since your cervix is tightly protecting your baby from ANYTHING that might float up there.

On a side note, whenever you have a question, don't be afraid to call your doctor. That's what they are there for. When it comes to pregnancy, every question is a ligitimate question. Every OB has an emergency number you can call as well, if you have an urgent question.

Congrats and best of luck with your pregnancy!

I dont know what raging waters is but its safe to swim when youre pregnant. Its safe to do alot of things when youre pregnant, in fact. Just dont go off any diving boards, or rope jumping, or water slides, no surfing, no boogieboarding, etc.
No hot tubs, either. The temperature can get too hot for the fetus.

Really, swimming is a GREAT way to stay in shape throughout your pregnancy though, because its a no impact activity, and it will help you get back in the shape you like faster, if youre active while you are pregnant.
You can go underwater. Just dont go scuba diving. ;-)

I also reccommend going to a doctor and getting prenatal vitamins, as well as certain tests and help with a healthy pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different, and every dictor is different, so find a Dr that works for you.

Also, ask for tips on baby care in the first month, NOW. Breast feeding tips, diapering, swaddling, amount of clothes, feeding, etc.. That way youre better prepared to care for your little one.

Good luck with your pregnancy and your future child!!! =)

you may pass swimming everywhere you will possibly once you weren't pregnant. in simple terms see you later as a results of fact the water isn't ice chilly, you would be high quality! in simple terms make valuable that the water is sparkling (i might think of you won't swim in it otherwise, besides, so . . . ) Swimming can truthfully help with the being pregnant aches and pains in an prolonged time, as a results of fact the water takes the load of your abdomen off of your lower back and each little thing, and it soothes any of the crampings and what-not which you get for the time of. i comprehend a good sort of places grant prenatal swimming training, water aerobics for pregnant women, or what-have-you (i've got on no account in my opinion availed myself of those, yet quite often as a results of fact of funds or timing). in simple terms you would be wanting to not stay on your suit later on, fairly in case you're in a lake or creek. you're greater liable to micro organism, that can thrive in a moist suit; in my first being pregnant, I developed bacterial vaginosis after i might long gone to a close-by lake, and hadn't been in a position to alter out of my tournament for terribly just about 2 hours. The scientific care grew to become into not friendly: some very disgusting-tasting horse pills for a week! have exciting staying cool this summer season!

Swimming is great, don't go doing any Olympic dives or anything, but enjoy it! It is a GREAT way to exercise when you're pregnant and later in your pregnancy it will really take the discomfort of all the weight off! A swimming pool will be your best friend during pregnancy keeping you fit and comfortable!

Don't worry. It's probably even really good for your body, when you get farther along do what you did (just sit/stand and relax) in the pool for a while sometimes, it'll ease the burden on your body even for just a little while. As long as your not getting slammed in the tummy w/ waves or other swimmers. :)

Someone asked kinda the same question at babycenter. There is a lot good info there.
Don't worry too much, that's what's not good for your baby. You sound to me like you're gonna do great. ^_^

It's good for pregnant woman to exercise during their pregnancy and swimming is an excellent way to do it. Just be careful not to swim in the ocean or anywhere with strong currents or waves. The best place for you to swim would be a swimming pool, but swimming doesn't do any damage to your baby at all.

Just if your around a bunch of people, try not to be! You don't want anyone kicking you in your stomache or anything crazy like that!!!

You can swim all you want. It is great exercises. It won't harm your baby. Just don't go down any high slides or diving boards. You could land wrong. And stay out of the hot tub - I don't mean hot bath, I mean hot tub. The water gets too hot and it could harm the baby. Taking a hot bath is different - your water in their doesn't get as hot.
