Judging from the availibility of Yahoo answers, and the fact that you didn't capitalize the first why, I'd say you're not trying to make a deep statement here, so my guess would be that you have some free time that's not being spent otherwise, and thought that some kind of philosophical query would help you fill the time. I'm here for the same purpose. Are we thirsty for knowledge? In some sense, I'd suppose so; we want answers, but whether we want answers for knowledge or for answers sake, I'm not sure.

Only you can answer that. I am here because I like to help people. Have you got a life, I'm sure you do, when was the last time you left the house? If its more than a month and you are able bodied, then, no.

Here? As in Yahoo Answers? Or on the planet?
I know it is not proper to answer a question with a question, but you have asked 5 questions as one. You have a life. Perhaps you are bored. I'm here because i was born, and have lived. I am one of God's Children, as are you, as we are all sparks of the great Spirit of the Universe.

I don't know, you are probably bored. I am actually being entertained by this site. I am in school right now and don't feel like listening to a presentation, that's why I am here.

Just a moment ago, i answered a similar question as your's. So Im Just pasting the same answer that I said there, as an answer to your question too..Please excuse..
The purpose of our existence on this earth , is to search for our God. We hav'nt, come to this world just out of nothing. Something has to create us ,as unique as the way we are. The whole of the universe is filled with the almighty God's power and glory! And the only thing we have to do , is to just quit looking at ourselves, and open our spiritual eyes, our inner vision to fathom this never ending mystery! This is the purpose of our lives. To understand our maker , our creator.
I'll cite a beautiful poem 'Gitanjali' written by the great sage and mysticist, Rabindranath Tagore. The whole of the poem is a prayer , the expression of his indepth love for his maker. The poem is a very long prayer & Im here citing the song sequence numbered 11 . In it he speaks about the ways of finding God, to understand Him. The poem goes as followes. He sings:
" Leave this chanting and singing and telling of bead!
Whom dost thou worship in the lonely dark corner of a temple with doors all shut?
Open thine eyes and see thy God is not before thee!
He is there where the tiller is tilling the hard ground and where the path maker is breaking the stones. He is with them in sun and in the shower and His, garment is covered with dust. Put off thy holy mantle and even like Him come down on the dusty soil!
Deliverance? Where is this deliverence to be found ? Our master Himself has joyfully taken upon Him the bonds of creation; He is bound with us all forever.
Come out of thy meditations and leave aside thy flowers and incense! What harm is there if thy clothes become tattered and stained? Meet Him and stand by Him in toil and in sweat of thy brow."
The only way he has found out, to fathom God, is through serving the lowest of the lowly. Understanding that The Holy Bible, The Holy Quaran, The Chathur vedas and the all the holy scriptures ever written, points to the same God & His only son Jesus Christ who would come to save the world, is the ultimate knowledge that we could attain. Our search for God reaches a completion in this knowledge. Fathoming the nature of our God is beautiful enough , but knowledge without actions is only futile. For that we'll have to serve the poor , the lowest of the lowly and serve & glorify our God through them.
