Who cares? I DO! It really DOES matter. Each kind of turtle has its own unique way to be cared for. Some need deep water, some very little water, some need to be fed different things than others. The best place to get all the info you need is to go to www.turtleexchange.smfforfree.com and ask. There are several experts there to help you and you can make some friends in the process.

Where did you get your turtle? Yes, pictures are the best way of getting your answers. There are people on that website that can see one picture and tell you what it is. Give it a try.

You can also post a description. What helps is:
Shell length
Shell color
Shell shape/texture (smooth, ridged, etc.)
Head shape, coloration
Belly color and pattern
General location- part of country
Habitat- forest, river, pond, etc.
