There is nothing you can do to bring the carpet back. The only solution I can think of to keep you from having to buy whole new carpeting is to either go to a carpet store or if necessary, cut a piece out of a closet, or some other place that it will not be noticed. Get a piece that is slightly larger then what you need. Cut out the place that is discolored, use a salt and baking soda mixture on the pad until NO bleach smell is present, then place your carpet piece over the pad. You can sew it on (making sure to sew into the nap of the carpet, not just the weave) or maybe they make some sort of glue that will work...not sure if they do, but I'm sure you could go to a hardware store and ask. How ever you get it done, afterward use a hot iron and a large paddle brush to hide where your repair work happened

You could use a carpet cleaning machine that you can rent. As for the color, you are pretty much stuck. Will have to buy new carpet or have a carpet person use a spare piece to place a plug in there where the problem is. Man, sorry to say it, but you took a small problem and made it really, really big.

I doubt it, the color of the carpet is probably gone. However to get rid of the smell you'll have to pull up the carpet and clean the padding under it as I am sure the bleach got down into that layer and if you don't get it out of there you'll never get the smell out.

the best solution to get the smell out is to rent a steam cleaner, use just hot water and no detergent. Keep going over the area and cleaning then pulling out the water. It will take some of the odor out and the rest will fade with time. As for the color the only thing you may be able to do is get some rit die in a color as close to your carpet as you can get.

I would use a light mixture of salt and baking soda to bing up the bleach out of the carpet, as much as you can anyway since the discoloration damage is already done. Id be fairly liberal with the baking soda a second time in a wider area to thorougly reduce the bleach smell.

Not sure about removing the smell. But you can cut a small piece of the carpet out of the corner of a closet and send it to Custom Finishes, Inc. in Tenn. (www.customfinishes.com) and they can match it with an aerosol spray paint.

Nope..what is done is done. You probably will have to replace the carpet. And no, don't let child sleep on that bleach. Chlorine does evaporate rather quickly but still I wouldn't take any chances.

Yeah, as far as I know, bleach is way too strong to come out, but you might try a carpet company and have them at least come out to deep clean it and see if that helps....
