Revenge, vengeance, dominance and recognition. People who hurt others have no respect for themselves and other people.

It's something we learn as children. That is why the law has been changed in the UK to stop parents hitting their children. So they don't teach them violence is the only way. They can still smack their children as long as it doesn't cause any injury - not even a bruise. It is sometimes right to smack a child. It shocks them and they remember it well. As a general rule, I only smack children when they put themselves or others in danger. but their are many ways to hurt and abuse people. People often gang up, like a pack of animals and launch a vicious psychological attack on anyone they see weak or different. they are often encouraged to do so by parents and teachers. The hard working student will be called a geek by the beautiful people - who get everything in life by smiling sweetly and don't actually need brains or education. More people prostitute themselves to get what they want than you may realise. That just do it a little more subtly than the street girls. Personally, I prefer the latter to the former.

I'm sorry but your question is far too general.

A Mother can hurt a child as a chastisement either physical or emotional. It's a lesson. It isn't meant as harm but tough love.

A friend can hurt a friend by forgetting a birthday or not taking them seriously. It's an accident.

A person can snub another by not saying hello.

We are all little balls of emotions and easily hurt. Then when angry we can hurt back.

Are you talking about theft when one person steals from another.

Or are you talking revenge when the victom catches the thief.

You could be talking about a drunken brawl.
Where each party is defending thier honour.

Or are you talking about serious hurt as in war. Where we are fed propaganda that dehumanises the enemy. Each side telling of how barbaric the other side is which allows each the moral right (in thier opinion) to inflict just as much harm to defend their own people.

Which feeds the propaganda.

What I am amazed at is at how well we all get along on a daily basis.

People hurt others, because they don't like themselve. If you love yourself you would love everybody. Sometime people get hurt by other people and take it out on on others. If everybody can love each other, then there wouldn't be hurt.

Selfishness...cowardice...jealousy ...low self esteem or confidence...there are many reasons...sometimes the hurt occurs not out of a desire to do so, but as a result of doing the right thing (like when a relationship is over and one person breaks up with another)...

Just passing on the pain, usually! It takes guts to be hurt and take it without hurting others.

Usually because they themselves are hurting and angry with the world... and though that's hard to accept... I know from experience of being on receiving end... most people who do hit out, have seriously deep rooted problems they can't cope with.

They do it cuz their insecure. They are probably bullied at home, and to make themselves feel stronger, they bully others and it's very sad, cuz they have NO SELF ESTEEM.
