How many degrees of Kevin Bacon?

I've heard there are supposed to be so many degrees between each person and Kevin Bacon. How many degrees are there between you and Kevin Bacon and how is this so?

It is the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" anyone in Hollywood is supposed to be able to be connected to Kevin Bacon through 6 movies or less. For example: Robert Redford and Kevin Bacon...Robert Redford was in "The Bridges of Madison County" with Meryl Streep who was in "The River Wild" with Kevin Bacon. So that was actually 2 degrees.

it is six degrees. but the only explanation i can get is there is one. I have seen him in a movie. LOL

No really....i have a friend. (one degree) she dated this guy George (2 degrees) . He worked with Frank (3 degrees). Frank's sister, LeeAnn, owns a catering business (four degrees). She was hired by a makeup artist (five degrees) that did the make-up for Footloose, which starred (you guessed it) Kevin Bacon. (six degrees)
