My job is pretty meaningless. I'm an intern in the accounting dept. of a fortune 500 company...and all I do is filing, which they could get just about anyone to do. They pay me way too much and never have any work for me. Hence my suddenly very active yahoo!answers membership.

Well, I'm unemployed and would take just about anything right now. That's just to put things in perspective.

The best job is the one that I lost because of a change at the top of the workplace. I stumbled through temp work into the best job that I could imagine and was there over ten years. The most meaningful jobs are those that contribute to quality of life: people, animals, the environment, society. And they truly are meaningful jobs. It feels really good to know that your work is going to benefit someone or something. When you die you will know you have done a little something as a legacy.

Change your employer not necessarily your job ...you can clean toilets for refugees and it is still a contribution.

Good luck finding it.

Well it first depends how useful your job is in your life. Does it pay the bills? Does it allow you some free time to pursue other interests or do you feel like a modern day slave?
Anyway, I also am very bored at my job. I think - darn-I went to an Ivy League graduate program to do this crap. Yikes!

While many do find that it might be meaningless and boring, it does not mean you have to succumb to it. Just have a habit or hobby outside of your work you thoroughly enjoy, then motivate yourself by using your job as a means to fund/finance this hobby, and viola, you'll find meaning in your work already!
