I've been playing WoW for about a year and a half now. For alot of people this game can get overly addicted, becuase there are goals set up in this game which take tremendous amounts of play-time to achieve. For instance there is a ranking system for player verse player play. You get rewarded with better equipment the higher rank you are. Unfortunately, it takes months of playing as much as your boyfriend does to achieve the last rank. I've personally seen people attempt this and it can harm people in many ways.
The way the game developers made this game makes you play for many many hours if you want the "uber gear" that it offers. whether its doing the Honor grind, or raiding with other players night after night, its all a huge time sink, and it was developed to do just that - make you waiste as much time as possible and become addicted, in order to keep you playing longer.
He will eventually burn out on it, everyone does. If it gets any worse, just try bringing him to light about how it's effecting his real life.

I have become addicted, but in moderation...there is no way I could sit there for 15-20 hours straight...my limit is like 3 hours and that is not daily, because I do work.....I play like maybe 3 days of the week.

I've never tried it, but my cousin and my uncle are addicted. That's all my cousin thinks about, and as far as my uncle goes, he plays it until all hours of the morning, then gets up early for work everyday. I don't think they play it quite that much, though.

I have a cousin-in-law who spends 15-20 hours a day on a game called Final Fantasy. I think that's what it's called. But it just drives me crazy when I go down for a visit, because that bum doesn't help my cousin do anything around the house or help her with the baby at all. He literally eats, sleeps and breathes that dumb computer! It drives me nuts, too! And that's just my cousin's husband! I couldn't imagine if it were my husband. God bless you, Honey, and hang in there!!!!!!

I used to play that game when it first came out, my boyfriend at the time used to play against each other. So does your boyfriend work?? I would dump him and get with someone who will give you attention for 15 to 20 hours straight.

I used to be exactly like your boyfriend. I was playing WoW for like 10 - 12 hours almost every day.

about a month ago I lost my best friend due to this behavior and now I only play casual. that means around 12-15 hours a week (which is nothing in Wow , like every player will know)

I play WoW, but I rarely play that long at a time. Work and Real Life take precedence and I may get a day's worth of play once or twice a month....normally I only get a couple hours at a time.

Addiction takes many forms...it is not limited to drugs and/or alcohol. Please do not get so upset over someone using a term in the correct manner even if it is not exactly what you went through.

I usually play in the AM before I go to work. On my day off I will play for three hours or so. Its my hobby, I use it to relax instead of televsion (which I hate)..but stil I think 20 hours a day is a lot of time to just play a game.

Wow, every day? That's insane. I play the game (mostly binging on the weekend) but 15-20 hrs is way too much.

i used to be like that then i realized how much i was playing. is your bf trying for grandmarshal or high warlord pvp rank? if so that might be why. pvp rank ups require such a terrible grind that you have to play that often. its sad i know. thats one of the reasons why i quit. and what sucks is, if you stop pvping so often; you LOSE rank honor. its sucks. man it sucks
