EMIGRATION. the lack of knowledge in yahoo answers.?

Question

the word "emigrate" means to leave your country to go and live permanently in another country. a number of those who responded to my question seem not to have heard of this word. some even insulted me for not knowing the meaning and spelling of "IMMIGRATION". quite a couple of the answers came from europeans and americans. it is a disapointment to be castigated by those that should know and do not know, but still go about insulting those who should. by the way, i am an African, a proud Nigerian and better educated than most americans and europeans i know.

Emigration is the act and the phenomenon of leaving one's native country to settle abroad. It is the same as immigration but from the perspective of the country of origin.

i looked it up because i got confused. i am used to using the word 'immigration' myself. am sorry that u got insulted by the people who responded to ur earlier question. since u are better educated than most, just ignore those who aren't as lucky as you (or as we...lol)
