nobody can take credit away from cristiano ronaldo for his amazing ball skills and sensational solo runs that often eat up the length of the field.
but taking a closer look as to how many of them have ended in the opponents nets leaves one dissapointed.
i would rather its a case of a contorted attitude in a person with immense talent and potential.
take for example the 2006 FIFA world cup. how many goals were scored off ronaldo's passes? none.
and the only one he sored was off a penalty!!
cristiano ronaldo often forgets that soccer is a team game and the ultimate objective is to score goals. i agree with those who are of the view that if you play the game, then play beuatifully - joga bonita!
i guess all the sheen is lost if you are dispossessed often in your solo runs or if you cap a spectacular run with a mispass. i would rather watch a 'defensive' match rather than a match with more than four fruitless 'runs' by cristiano ronaldo.
all this was amply illustrated in the portugal germany third place match where ronaldo after a zigzag run made a back pass without looking in that direction which was a bit too long for the defender, and germany almost made a goal out of that pathetic piece of 'skills'.
if you check the efficiency quotient of the player on the field and value it more than the 'wow' effect that he brings, ronaldo would never make it to your list of favourite players.
and about ruud i think he's past his prime.
my opinion - sell both!!

Some of you just can't let go. Those of you that want to keep Ruud vs. Ronaldo, are blind. I don't want to create a war, but as a passionate, not emotional anf fanactic fan, I say KEEP C. Ronaldo. He is the one that gtives the english true spectators fun and excitement. As a ManUnited fan, I would rather see Ruud go and even our floby boy go to the bench until he accepts fault for his own mistakes and get along with Ronaldo for the good of his team. I suspect that those who want Ronaldo to go are indeed Man United's rivals fans. So for those, mind your business and leave Ronaldo alone in MU. Yesterday, was England vs. Portugal, today and tomorrow is and will be MU and only MU. As the Brazilians say; Keep the boolies out and give us fun and joy. We go to the stadium to watch a show, JOGO BONITO, if possible with a win.

Ronaldo can go but it doesn't look like Ruud is staying. So I guess by default I want Ronaldo to stay.

I think that neither one will be at Man U by the end of the season, but I think Ruud may last longer than Ron.

Come on, Ronaldo is staying with Man U and Rudd is leaving for either Spain or Germany. With Saha and Rooney and maybe another key player, Man U can let Rudd go but cannot afford to lose Ronaldo.
