no, it is not real, it particularly is an hoax, I have been given it via digital mail, and it has being around as a results of fact that 2003, so it is not real. that's what it reported on an cyber web internet site: MARS HOAX: A bogus digital mail is going around the internet. It claims that Mars would be traditionally on the threshold of Earth on August 27, 2006--so close that Mars will look as great as a results of fact the completed Moon. that's not real. indexed decrease than are the information: On August twenty seventh, Mars would be on the different component of the photograph voltaic equipment, approximately 385 million kilometers from Earth. The purple planet will look tiny and dim, not something like an entire Moon.

mars came closer to the earth than it has in the last 60000 years but that was last year...sorry...it lasted for about a month and you could go outside and actually see what looked to be a red star....it was neato under a telescope.....but it was still too far away to have the kind of gravitational effect that the moon has, although it does have an effect...all of the planets orbiting the earth have an effect on each other.....heck, that is how we knew pluto was even there...we could calculate its gravitational effect

I dunno, but I got the e-mail too and I asked the same questions about gravity, but according to my e-mail, Mars would be the second largest to the moon, not quite as big as the moon. I guess the best way to tell is go out during the month of August and watch teh sky...

If you go to cnn.com, they did have some info on it. Mars will become clearer as August goes on, but you will have a full view by the end of the month.
