I'll assume you are a citizen of the USA,,,and already realized that FREEDOM,,,even when subjective, and often intruded upon, in this country, far exceeds that, in any other place on the planet.
"Saving" was designed to nudge US about that, cause us to think exactly what you realize, and as such is a movie of great impact,,even in subtle moments, much the same as HIS other film, "Gump"
Beyond the fact that HE is a GREAT actor, he also has his finger on the right buttons, as relates to issues.
I wasn't in Normandy, especially at the time of the assault, but have an empathy for anyone willing to create, or sustain Freedom, at any cost.
I'm older than many here. I've traveled greater distances perhaps, and have spent time in countries, and areas, where freedom related even to no conveniences, or abilities to speak openly. I always "came back"
Be thankful every day, for where you are. Wake each morning saying "Thank You" and do all you can,,,even passively, to help maintain every "freedom" you feel is available to you.
Rev. Steven

i visited omaha beach back in '88 and yes, it was a very humbling experience. just being on that hallowed ground gave me a strong sense of pride and gratitude for what those men did during the battle for normandy and all other times our military went into harms way. i know that sounds a little corny, but it's the truth.
of course if the libs of today ran things back then, the entire european continent, including the russian part, would be speaking german.

BEST MOVIE EVER! I was amazed when I found out WW2 veterens left the movie because they couldn't go through that experience again, tells ya how real it was to what actually happened. The TOTAL carnage and chaos must have been overwhelming. Thank you Mr. Spielberg

Good movie, fact based I think, many do not appreciate the freedom that exists, too bad for them to not know what they have.

Yes. That is one reason I study history. Perhaps if enough of us studied and understood history then Iraq, Afghanistan, and other soon-to-be-explored theatres of battle wouldn't happen in our time; perhaps ever.
