That used to bug me too.

In highschool this one kid used to beat up tons of people and was a total jerk to everyone (even his so called "friends"!) , but when he got killed in a drunk driving accident.... his own stupid fault.... everyone blabbered about how sweet and kind he was. BS! I say it was Karma.

I talked about this to a few people and it was like they didn't even want to hear me say it.... like all the crap he did to people had just disappeared because the kid died.

I don't complain about it anymore because I have learned that people enjoy living in a fantasy world where A**holes go heaven and they'll all be appreciated when they die no matter how badly they treated people during their lifetime.

It's all a silly fantasy perpetuated by society for it's own sake. I can only just shake my head and be glad that I live my life for the sake of my life.... and not for what might happen after I die.

Because it is customary to not speak ill of the dead.

It doesn't make someone any less of a scumbag, it just means no one is going to keep bringing it up.

You do it out of respect for the family and people shouldn't speak ill of the dead---
