Austin is probably the most expensive and most popular place in the state. It is in somewhat central location to most of the interesting parts of Texas.

It is the location of the most liberal factions of Texas politics.

Now you didn't ask where the best place in Texas was to live but that is okay, we live there and I'm not about to give that secret away.

Hi Nicky! The suburbs of Dallas are very nice and quite pricey. Alternatively, Austin has it's fair share of overpriced properties in spite of it being home to the University of Texas. However, your choice will have to made by what climate you are looking for. There are high end neighborhoods and gated communities in almost every major metropolitan area in the state. My personal favorite is "The Dominion" in the suburbs of San Antonio where you can find neighbors such as David Robinson (former Spurs basketball star) and George Straight (country western singer). It's a beautiful community and it's only about 20 minutes to downtown San Antonio and it's riverwalk, shopping and night life. Good luck with your move and I know you'll never regret moving to Texas - it truly is the greatest place on earth!

I would recommend Austin..
Very cool hangout places, live music, excellent restaurants, and downtown is alway alive on the weekends.

Houston goes next. Alot more traffic though.. So watch out.
San Antonio - relatively poor
Dallas - boring

I'm sure any large city will be more expensive than a rural area.
