Question about A Walk To Remember-In the book...?

I am convinced that at the end of the book when Landon says "miracles happen" that he meant that Jamie did not die. The movie says otherwise. What do you think? It's been a while since I've read the book, am I totally wrong?

Nicholas Sparks was never 100% certain at the end of the book. He left it up to us to determine the answer. Frustrating, but true.

I think that she died, and miracles happen was more related to how she changed him.
