It all depends on the formality of the occassion really. Dad can't go wrong with light weight trousers, shirt and tie (with optional jacket). Mum could wear a smart summer dress or skirt and top with a nice pair of sandals, hats are optional (but in that weather might be advisable!). There will usually be part of the day spent outside so i would advise you to remember suncream and sun glasses too as well as lot of water to drink! Also for Mum wear sensible but nice shoes, in my experience (4 graduations later, 2 my own!) you could be doing a lot of walking so be prepared!

Congratulations on your child graduating! Enjoy the day!

Usually smart(ish): mothers in nice dresses and skirts, fathers sometimes wear suits but shirt and good trousers will do.

trust me i know: I spent the whole of last week sending Cambridge University graduation photos out to the proud parents who featured in quite a few of them.

But i think -ur right- it's hard to look smart when it's hot.

I would wear a jacket and tie, and just remove the jacket while outside and maybe roll up my sleeves. But to have the jacket there just shows that you have respect without necessarily having to wear it the whole time. Mom can get away with any kind of summery like dress.

It could be the last time they get to embarrass you in front of your peers so Dad may drag out his 70's suit from the back of the wardrobe and combine with a Clarks sandal (and beige socks) and Mum will probs turn up in a bikini and pashmina for modesty ...(mine did!)

Mine wore nothing at all because they are dogs and I was the first dog to graduate. They did wag their tails a lot though.
