It depends how much you make! College Professors at sleepy little unaccredited religous colleges - including psychologists - are often paid less than 20k a year. But they also make money doing consulting work and writing text-books and software. A doctorate level Clinical Psych who gets $500.00 per evaluation, and does 20 such evaluations a week (like for the court, industry, etc...) are making about 500,000 a year before expenses and overhead. Average Clinical Psycholost? Probably 100 - 150k annually. Forensic types, sports psychologists, and consumer psychologists probably make a lot more. But they all can do consulting and publishing. All the Psychologists I know in this town seem to live comfortable lives with nice homes. I know this because I drive by their house when my parents sign me up with a new one.
