I don't know about Paxil, but the most annoying side effect of Zoloft was the muscle twitches in my arms and legs. It was so worth it, though, to get rid of my anxiety.

I took Paxil for like 4 years and loved it. Don't take it now simply because after my divorce I didn't have med. insurance and just can't afford it right now. Been off of it for a year and a half. Side effects in the beginning that I experienced were nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tiredness, anxiety, and dry mouth. This was mainly for the first 2 days when I started the meds. Usually withing 2 weeks the meds are in your system and the side effects go away. Each person is different though.Tried Zoloft and didnt' like it.

Paxil, i couldn't take. I tried it once and I had weird visual effects, like tripping on acid! Some call it "trails". The Zoloft worked well for awhile and then after a year on it, I started to have diarreah everyday. Now , I don't take anything. The heck with all that crap. I just decided to deal with life the best I can!

I took Paxil for 9 months. I noticed that the ability to have an orgasm and ejaculate was diminished. This is what they mean by "possible sexual side effects". I got tired of feeling "drugged" and stopped taking it. Sure enough the anxiety and bouts of depression came back. Only now I realize it is only a chemical imbalance and not real. It still sucks but I can "think" my way through these conditions.

This is a non-scientific anecdotal answer.

My friend took Paxil. She said she felt little zaps or bursts in her head and had frequent stomach complaints. Ultimately she stopped the medication because she found it worse than the symptoms. She had found that she just didn't care about anything at all and so was missing out on the joy (as well as the pain) of life. Good luck to you.

My husband had initially low sex drive, dry mouth, and some insominia with Paxil. After 4 year though our marriage is strong, the sex is great, and he is no longer as anxiety ridden about people/work and I don't have to live with his OCD.

Don't feel free to ask your pharmacist. Usually a pharmacy will print out drug information for you, when you purchase the drug. I know Eckerds does this.

I also use www.rxlist.com This is a great website, provides lots of information on many many drugs.

When you first start to take it: Nausea, sleep problems, headaches, anxiety. The whole time you're taking it: low sex drive, weight gain, lack of emotion (including positive emotions). It also actually increases the risk of violence and suicide, and you get withdrawal effects when you stop taking it.
