Actually yes there is surgery. They break your legs and put rods in them as the bone grows back normally they pull rods away a lil more to add more bones. Don't know the name of surgery thou. They wont do it just because you want it done either.

well once I heard that some years ago people used to break their leg's bone into pieces in that way the body respond filling the spaces between with new bone and that made them taller, but is to painful. Other thing that your friend can do is to play basketball.

well they can break and re break your legs until you reach a certain height but it takes a long time and is very painful. My suggestion, embrace the shortness. I'm short, my friends laugh at me. My friends are fat. I laugh at them. It's this thing we do.

A good expert can advice him to take growth hormone, if he is young enough. take care! there is a chance of side effect on this also.
