I think it's the most beautiful place in the world. The people are so great and beautiful and friendly. There are a couple of donkey doody as well. The weather is fantastic. I love the summer when it's so hot you have to sit in the shade all day. And in winter when it's raining in the Cape.

I can go on for hours about the neighbors and friends and work buddies and sundowners. Let's not forget sundowners. And the food is the bomb. The beer is world class and the beaches are out of this world. Heaven on earth is what I call it.

I've been away so long, but see it in my mind's eye almost every single minute of the day. I can't wait to go home in January. Might even go to Durbs to meet up with Diesel and friends.

I love South Africa. I live in South Africa and i enjoy it! I wouldnt move away from South Africa!!

Everybody goes on about HIV and the crime but if you dont sleep around with every Tom, Dick and Harry you wont get HIV. Then as for the crime - i can honestly say that it is bad and something South Africa should start sorting out but dont let that stop you from coming to South Africa.

There are great tourist attractions, wonderful people, good weather, the best animals and so so so much more! Come and experience it for yourself! You will not regret it!

I think it is a beautiful country not only because I lived there but because it is. The plants, flowers, trees, and animals add to the scenery. If ever I could go back, I would love to go and visit to see all the beautifulness again. There is only one place like South Africa and that is South Africa.

Although there's a lot of crime in South Africa it is not enough reason not to go visit or speak against South Africa just because of it. There is crime all over the world- in South Africa it is just a teenie bit worse.

One thing I like most from South Africa is the purely South African restaurants like the Spur and Steers. They have the best food in particular hamburgers.

Well it is the most violent place on the Planet with it's 54 murders a day and all the rape and hijacking that goes on. Their Government , Tourist Industry and some citizens are in complete denial about their crime statistics saying it is unpatriotic to tell the truth. They have road signs saying " Beware of Hijackers" which is their answer to deal with crime. All the sensible South Africans have left the Country and many more are planning to do so. A once great Country that has now descended into the abyss and is rated by the BBC the most violent country in the world that is not in a war zone. The Norwich Union also have it rated as the most dangerous country for British tourists to visit and warn travellers accordingly. Visit the site www.crimexposesouthafrica.org to read the truth and dont believe all the liars who come on this site and say the pictures come from rotten.com. Where do they think rotten.com got the pictures from? South Africa of course because it is their prime location for disgusting photos. Read the letter from Thobago on the site who expresses his desire to murder and rape Mother's and Grandmothers etc. It is absolutely disgusting and the Western Nations should be ashamed of themselves to sit by and watch the next grotesque version of African democracy evolve.

Hi.
The crap that the first person said is mostly wrong.
Change was necesarry after apartheid and that's surely a reason that a lot of blacks are in charge now.
However the economy is doing pretty well and has enjoyed the longest period of sustainable growth in around 25-30 years. yes, HIV is prevalent but mostly common amongst poorer people in township areas. So is the crime. I ve been living here for close to ten years and I or friends of mine have never come accross a violent situation during that time. That's not to say it does not exist but the crime stats should not put you off from not visiting.
SA is a beatiful large country and living standards are like in the first world (if you have some kind of money). As regards destinations I would definitely recommend Cape Town, the surrounding winelands, the Garden route, Durban and surrounding areas and the Kruger Park with its wildlife. To do all of this would however take around 6 weeks Joburg isn't as bad as it is portrayed but is not of significant interest for the tourist.
Otherwise people are generally friendly and as long as you stay out of the "bad" areas you should be safe.

Hope this helps.

What do YOU think of South Africa?

It was in really great shape as long as Whites ran the place,

But today, it is crime-riddened, has soaring HIV-rates, the economy is nose-diving, the educational level is falling and there is not ONE SINGLE good statistic that South Africa can point to.

Typical Black takeover. Ruination of the political unit.
