Because Israel is the gateway to oil in the middleast. If the middleast did not have oil then, Israel would shrink in importance. America has a warped sense of morality. During WWII when all the Jewish councils of the world begged the big three: America, Russia, and Great Britain to bomb the concentration camps in Germany and Poland, the allies response was, it would detract form the strategic bombing of Germany. So as long as the Germans were slaughtering Jews in the camps, no one cares, the Jewish race had nothing to offer the West. But once the Jewish state of Israel was founded and oil was to be the economic engine of recovery, and the majority of the Arab states aligned with communist Russia, then you better believe Israel became the most important ally to the U.S.
You also need to know that the Evangelical Christians believe the state of Israel must exist for Armageddon to start and have the rapture come true. As long as the Republican party continues to bow down to the extreme right of its religious end, you will see America continue to support Israel.

they are fighting common enemy Syria and Iran and common agenda fight against Islamic terrorists, nothing more than that, bush always plays double game with all the countries including India ,Pak border terrorism is acceptable to bush as he is supplying F16 to Pakistan for cheaper price ,everybody want to make business and money ,who knows whats is long term hidden agenda ???.
