No not at all. Actually I would say we are one of the most non corrupt country in the world. I have been a lot of other places and have seen real corruption where in order to get out of a traffic violation you simply pay the officer your fine. Basically its a bribe to get him to let you off the hook. We do have corruption but it is not the norm as it is in other countries. Most Americans I would say follow most of the laws. Germany and the UK are perhaps the only countries I have been to where they have less corruption than the USA.

Highly possible when you consider the graft and corruption start at the local level and extend to the White House. Think of all the pay offs that take place to get government contracts and variances from each level of government. Why do people spend so much money to get elected to a public office. Is sure as hell is not to help the people. Local contractors contribute to all levels of government to just get by and have a chance at contracts. Corruption is a necessary form of action in most democracies because without it there will be no motivation for people to leave good paying jobs to work in government.

There is actually an international organization devoted to answering questions about the corruption in various countries, Transparency International (www.transparency.org). It produces highly regarded reports on various types of corruption - political, legal, business, etc. So one point to make here is that the US probably has different levels of corruption depending on which aspect the question is directed to.
In any case, the most well known of the reports they produce is an annual report on the businessmen's and country experts' perception of business corruption. From this aspect, the US ranks a respectable 17th LEAST-corrupt among 159 countries rated. You can see the complete results at : http://www.transparency.org/policy_research/surveys_indices/cpi/2005

Though the United States is very corrupt it is not even close to being the most corrupt nations in the world. Think about middle eastern countries whose leaders use government funds to support terrorist groups. Next to that Jack Abramoff looks saintly.

Without a doubt . Yes .... Most of it is not known though since it's never covered in main stream media (most of it is censured out in the USA ) There is so much crap going on in the background.
The country is not even run by political leaders anymore. They are all leash dogs to the big corporations

No they aren't corrupt within their own jurisdiction(Because they are the most dominant in the world economy) but among the countries I can't judge because I have no conclusions about the wars they get involved! It depends upon how you understand about the news that you watch on TV!

No, definitely not. It's due to the checks and balances set up in our system. Of course, I am not a pollyanna, I do realize there is corruption here, but I think compared to countries that are controlled by one dominant leader we have less corruption.

No, its not the most corrupt, but have we not noticed that in the last 3 years our citizens have been more cynical about our governments wrong doings. we must stand up for change and honesty as we notice this country going sour.

I think that corruption runs rampid in all forms of government, but some are just better at covering it up than others. Every government has the greedy b*st@r#s in it (whether it be greed for money or power - take your pick). It's all in how you can act like a fair and impartial government.
