see i have a friend and all she ever does is be like "i am a loser" "im stupid" "im ugly" which se isnt she is not a loser, she is very smart, and very pretty, all the guys like her! and she is always mean to herself, so why do people do that, is it just for attention?

Low sense of self-worth and self-esteem, a fear that others will put you down and so you laugh at yourself and find it easier to put yourself down so that other people will not do it - also it can be a cry for attention and when people put themselves down they are often looking for constant 'reassurance' from other people - like 'no no you're not ugly for the last time' etc.

I used to put myself down when I was younger to. If I did it first, no one else could beat me to it. It would be easier hearing it from me, instead of someone else. Stupid? Yes, I see that now. But insecurity is a big problem for young girls. Try to be supportive.
She could also be looking to have you say.. no, you are pretty, you are smart... fishing for compliments. Unless she's unhappy all the time, I would say she will grow out it in time. We all do.

attention seeker. she wants people around her to re-assure that she's the complete opposite of what shes saying. she's being fed everything she wants to hear while not appearing like she loves herself. but really she most probably knows it. she's also very insecure. she shouldn't have to hear other people re-assure her that she is pretty, smart...etc... she should know that on her own. which again, makes me think shes an attention seeker

no its not for attention is just because of the lack of self-worth and confidence some are natuarlly like that others also come up with that from where they're trian or come from. you can't actually help she is the only one who can help herself so tell her to start thinking positive abt herself.

It's about insecurity and lack of self esteem..... i did it through most of my adolesence, and I still do it a little now.... tell your friend that if she tones that down, she'll get more positive interaction with people and then feel better about herself...

Her way of being humble or maybe thats how she see's herself. She might prefer to be a masochist then a sadist.
Tell her to not put the blame of the worlds problems on her shoulders.

Normally it comes from low self esteem, she doesnt see herself like everyone else sees her. Maybe her parents push her to be better so she doesnt think she is as good as she is.

not just for attention... but they have very low self esteem, no securities about who they r... if she is really your true friend u can only be there to show her that she isn't all these things that try to oppress her... ASSURE HER WITH LOVE..... you CAN make a difference!!!!

most people put the self down.before others can put them down. cause if you think about it.alot of people in this world put other people down.so some people start putting there selfs down.good luck
