Your baby should have pleanty of tummy time. Lay him on his belly and lay next to him and show him toys. Help him learn how to roll himself over. Help him sit on him own by wedging him in the sofa cushions or in a boppy or bumble, it will help him work out that round little toad butt and build up his core muscles so he can support his trunk.
Ive seen this before in babies ive nannied where the parents constantly carried the baby, or didnt stimulate it with toys and play.
Babies who cry when on the floor playing, or who throw complete end of the world tantrums during tummy time really do get over it. So long as you're there and keep the time limited (usually 15 minutes or so a couple times a day, when baby is at its most active, not before nap time). You have to show your little squirt that he can interact with his world.
Hang some toys across his crib with links, get him one of those little baby floor mats where they can kick things with their feet or swat things with their hands. Lights and noises, bright colors. All the things that are stimulating, and then make sure he gets ample time with these toys. help him work his little feet to kick at things, and his little hands to grab things.
Also, when you're holding him, let him stand in your lap as often as he will. Help him pull himself up by holding his hands and pulling him up carefully. It will help him learn.
Tummy time is the most important.
Children all develop at different rates. Especially premie babies, they take longer to reach the infant milestones.
My brother walked at 5 months. BUt that is unheard of. Most children will start to pull themselves up at about 8-9 months, and walking naturally comes from there. Usually babies will walk around where they can hold onto furniture.
His time will come, just give him all the opportunity he needs.

Does he roll over? Does he sit up unsupported yet? He should probably have hit those milestones already and maybe started working on crawling. (Getting up on hands and knees and rocking back and forth.)
Around 8-9 months most babies start pulling themselves to a standing position and between 9-15 months most babies begin cruising and taking a few steps.
My kids were all early walkers (11 months, 9.5 months and 1 week before 9 months).

Babies develop different. Give your baby activities to do. Get on the floor and crawl around. Dont hold your baby all the time.
It differs from babies my son is pretty advanced he has been walking since he was 8 1/2 months he is 10 months now and we are working on ABC's
All babies are different just be patient and work with him.

6 months old is WAY too soon. My daughter started to crawl last week at 8 months. Walking can take between 9 and 15 months.
Stop trying to hurry him along! Enjoy the time you have!

About 9 to 10 months your baby MAY start standing and holding onto furniture to get around. Roughly around a year your baby may take their first step. You have to wait until they are better proportioned and until he's good and ready.

My cousin started walking at 10 months I think. But at six months just let it take its course and start to encourage crawling although some babies go from lying to walking and no crawling.

Relax, your baby is fine. Some kids don't walk until after they're a year old, some earlier. If, however, he's not rolling over or sitting up, I'd take him to a pediatrician.
