Is it the same country that couldn't win the Ashes for 18 years (and during that time conveniently forgot they had a cricket team like the fickle morons that they are)?

I think this time the ashes series will be in the hands of the Aussies only.
The Ashes is a Test cricket contest played between England and Australia - it is one of cricket's fiercest and most celebrated rivalries and the oldest in international cricket dating back to 1882. It is currently played at approximately two yearly intervals, alternately in England and Australia. The Ashes are “held” by the country which last won a series and to “regain” them the other country must win more Test matches in a series than the country that “holds” them. If a series is “drawn” then the country holding the Ashes retains them. The last Ashes series was played in England in 2005 when England regained The Ashes after a gap of 16 years by winning the series 2-1. The next Ashes series will be in Australia in 2006-07 and the next series in England will be in 2009.
The series is named after a satirical obituary published in The Sporting Times in 1882 following the match at The Oval, in which Australia beat England in England for the first time. The obituary stated that English cricket had died, and the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia. The English media dubbed the next English tour to Australia as the quest to regain The Ashes. A small terracotta urn was presented to the England captain Ivo Bligh by a group of Melbourne women after England's victory in the Test series. The urn is reputed to contain a set of burnt bails symbolising "the ashes of English cricket". While the urn has come to symbolise the Ashes series, the name The Ashes predates the existence of the urn. The urn is not used as a trophy for the Ashes series, and whichever side "holds" the Ashes, the urn remains in the MCC Museum at Lord's. Since the 1998-99 Ashes series, a Waterford crystal trophy has been presented to the winners.
Notable Ashes series took place in 1932-33 (the Bodyline tour), 1948 (Sir Donald Bradman's "Invincibles" Australian side), 1981 (in which an England team spearheaded by Ian Botham won a thrilling series), 1989 (in which an Australian team spearheaded by Allan Border regained the Ashes on English soil) , and 2005 (when England eventually won the Ashes back, after a 'drought' of 16 years)
See the below mentioned site for the full information about the Ashes Series.

No. England won the ashes in 2005 when they defeated Australia in 2 tests while Australia could reply it only in 1.
Well the Ashes saw a rise-in star of English batsman Kevin Pieterson who did well in that series.
Australia & the English will face again in the Ashes 2006-07 at Australia in November-December the firs t one being at Brisbane. Australians will face the injured English side.

England won the Ashes but theoretically they only won because Glenn McGrath was injured in the two tests that England won because if you notice the two tests that England won Glenn McGrath was in the pavilion injured. Australia will win this winter i have every faith in them. My Brother Brett and his mates will bring the ashes back to australia where they belong

ENGLAND will get a mere chance if and only if FLINTOFF ,JONES,GILES get fit quickly..
VAUGHAN has been already ruled out to play nearly whole this year.
But in the contrast AUSSIES will play like WOUNDED TIGERS and surely try to get REVENGE.
and after the horrendous performance against SRILANKA,its evident that their new players can't cope up against the best.
so 75:25 in favor of AUSSIES even if ENGLAND have got their BEST players up against them
