Same as with children born during the marriage you either settle it among yourselves or you get attornies and go to court. As far as the medical bills that would be a 50/50 deal but again you might have to go to court to get it done if he isn't willing.

If the couple is divorced and not living together, since the baby is in the moms stomach and in her possesion, she will have it. The dad will then have to go to court and ask for what he wants. It is up to a judge, he can ask for joint custody or sole custody with the mother only having visitations. The judge decides. Once a baby is born, the father could come and take the baby and not give it back and then the mother would have to go to court. She should go to court immediately after having the baby and get custody, otherwise the father has as much rights to take and withhold the baby as she does.

the shakes answer is total wrong and now a days if the father wants custody can fight and alot are winning now, if both parents decide on a good fair way of things then usually the court doesnt stop it and it is written in the files, some dont need to go in at all if it has a even ending to it but if fight or angry later can hurt one or both goin in and finalizing it is the best, if you have no arguements on it then dont usually need lawyers messes, good luck and hope you can find the best way for all 3.

the infant stays with the mom (she has the right to withhold the child or forbid the hospital from allowing anyone to visit the newborn who she doesn't approve of)-------- unless she is unable to care for the child or they had an agreement that the father takes the baby --- custody and child support are matters for the court ---- if the father wants the child he has to fight for custody ---- infant care is learned and there's plenty of programs offered to new parents....then there are family members who have the experience too

There's no "rule" saying where a child goes when parents divorece now. Courts try to do what's best for the child, so children don't automatically go with the mother unless there's "something wrong" anymore.

The dad has just as much right to that child as he would had it been born prior to the divorce.

depends on what the couple does. if they go to court, and what the judge has to say. the bills will be split, because they both made the baby.
