to keep order, to make sure everyone gets to have their say without intteruptions, or abuse.

to follow the agenda, ask for clarification of points raised and to get the first choice of the tea and biscuits....

chair is easy, (im on 4 committees) secretary and whoever takes the minutes, thats the hard part.
