Right, let's cut the crap.Who thinks that The Jam were the most vital, exciting and original band ever?
Forget the Beatles, the Stones (and all those other drugged up hippies). Ignore all the meaningless crap Weller has done since.....this band were priceless.
No answers from idiot kids that think their a r s e is what they use for speech.

kma....I know 'Start!' is a rip off of Taxmans bassline. That's it though, the rest of the song isn't.I bought 'Snap' when it came out(and all the other Jam albums and singles), so I do actually know what I'm talking about.

setting sons` and` in the city` on vinyl still sound great, loads of energy...foxton- dodgy hair-.
unique sound which is what makes people love or hate them,
any band that comes up with something original and musically
competent is ok by me!!!

Although i don't agree that they were the greatest band in the world (that has to be the smiths), I do agree that the Jam were fantastic. If i could have one wish, I'd love to have been about 15 or 16 when they were at their best (I was only about 5 then). Paul Weller is a legend. "Just who is the 5 o' clock hero" was genius.

The Jam were absolutely rocking, like nothing else at the time, this cannot be denied! And consider how many bands today are influenced by them.

They're definitely up there. Don't be so dismissive of the Beatles; "Start" is just a ripoff of "Taxman"... a damn fine one, but a ripoff just the same.
I FINALLY got the complete Snap! about a month ago.

I've never heard of The Jam. Is it possible that I never heard of the greatest band ever, even though I've heard of the other bands you mentioned? Ehmm, seems unlikely.
