Buying a computer for your seven year old daughter is a good idea, because then she can use it for years after, get ahead of her class in computer technology and complete excellent reports when she's a little older. But beware of the child misusing the internet. i think you should get her a PC. try MDG computers.

First off, you're not buying a computer for a child. You're buying it for entire family. A 7 year old doesn't need a computer. Buy a dell or gateway.

At the age of seven I can't think why anyone would need a computer, unless of course it is a leap pad/frog type appliance. Please seriously rethink this option and spend that good money else where say a vacation. Something tells me that she would rather have a fun trip with her parents then spend usless hours on a unfeeling electronic device.

II suggest you to go for a HP/Compaq as it has a one year warranty which covers the replacement of the defective hardware and life time free chat support. Hence, I suggest you get a PC from HP/Compaq.

Gateway has a good policy and their computers are good but my husband and I prefer HP/ compaq computers because they have the most features for the lowest price.

For a child of this age, I would just buy a used system. She does not need state of the art for what she would be doing.
