yes and no. talented players know the game well enough where i think they could easily have the ability to coach...but i think it takes a specific kind of person to be a coach. you have to be the teacher type...you have to be patient...you have to be able to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of your players. not all players (even old and experienced ones) can do that...but not all coaches can do that either.

Generally, all players can be coaches or vice verse. But the hardest to be the cream of the crop. There's many good players and famous ones around, who has the skills and talents. To be remembered as the greatest player take much more than that. It often goes along with the number of awards, trophies and titles/honours.

To be good manager is even harder, the responsibility and roles the manger plays is definitely more than that of a player in the club or country. He is like a stern father, often requires certain charisma. Well like by his own but hated by not of his own. Smiliarly to be known as the greatest manager does equates to the numbers of honours, awards, awards, titles; that he (as a manager) wins in his managerial career.

Playing takes physical ability. Coaching takes good knowledge of the sport, the ability to teach the players what you are trying to accomplish, and the ability to manage the players as a team.

Maybe not all players but the team captain would probably be just as good at coaching!
