So, about two weeks ago I noticed my laptop started to make random 'plink' sounds...kind of like when a pop up is being blocked or something....that kind of sound. It just makes the sounds...it'll just do it randomly and I cannot get it to go away. IT IS SO ANNOYING!

I have done virus searches of my computer and it has come up clean. I uninstalled a program my bf put on there, and that was not the cause. The only other thing I did different was upgrade my Webroot Spy Sweeper. What is causing this and how do I get it to go away? Please help!!

odd you should mention this. i recently upgraded my spysweeper and noticed the same plink. maybe a coincidence but i wouldn't be surprised if webroot issued a new program update in the next few days. i wish they just left the program alone and only updated the definitions.

i think it's the windows xp ding.wav making that sound - the default beep.

Go into Control Panel and sounds. Search through the different programs until you find the one making the sound and change it to no sound.
