With all the information we know today, why would someone still do that! I would think the power of giving life to something like a infant would be a strong enough cause to quit smoking...

I just wanted to go up to her, slap the cigarette out of her mouth and scream....

Yes, women who do that do invoke rage in the rest of us who not only know better but live by what we know.

Yelling at her or hitting her wouldn't do any good though. Chances are she's rather uneducated and will hear only what she wants to here.

Very very selfish. Too bad someone didn't hit her instead of impregnate her to begin with...

Dude, let me tell you. A few years back we were trying for our nd baby when I'd just had my 2nd miscarriage. I was a wreck. My husband took me out shopping to try and cheer me up. As we walked into a store I saw girl of about 18 standing out front, waiting around. She was probably 80 pounds soaking wet and was wearing hot pants, high heels, and a cut off tee shirt. She was smoking a cigarette as well. She was also about 8 months pregnant, and seemed to revel in her belly protuding from her tiny clothes. I couldn't help myself, the scene was disgusting and I couldn't stop staring. It was so unfair, why did this little brat get to keep her baby while I lost mine? She noticed me staring and snarled, "And just what the f*ck are You looking at, hoe?" Nice. Real class act there. I was furious. Pregnant or not, I desperately wanted to beat the living hell out of her.

I eventually had two more beautiful children who are raised in a smoke free home with smoke free parents. I still wonder how that kid is doing with his mother. I hope she cleaned up.

Let me tell you that I was born 3 months premature because of this same problem. I was 3lb 3oz, now keep in mind that this was mid 1985 and we wernt as advanced back then. my father had to give up the house they were to buy and I grew up with medical problems in a smaller home as a result. so it does affect the outcome in a huge way.

My wife and I are curently expecting and I wont even let her be around anyone who is smoking. When we go to my parents house she is not alowed around my parents while they are smoking.

My mom picked up a lady walking down the street with a baby (it was like 90 something degrees and she didn't want the baby to suffer). Well the lady was also pregnant. She tried to light up a cigerette in my car while she was pregnant. My mom was so apalled she stopped the car and told her to put it out. That is disgusting. I have little respect for people who do that.

If you saw a pregnant woman walking into an abortion clinic, would you slap her and try to stop her from aborting her baby? Probably not. Same goes for the smoking. While it's not right, it IS her body and her baby, and she can make her own choices.

Well, unfortunately there are several women who don't think of their unborn babies. I know of pregnant women who continue to smoke cigarettes and drink...even do drugs. That to me shows what type of mother they will be like! If they knew what they were doing to the baby before it has a chance to start a healthy life maybe they wouldn't do it. Or maybe some just don't care.
I'm like you...it REALLY pisses me off!

My 'new' sister in-law smoked when pregnant with my ONLY nephew and I hated it!!! I was so scared that he would have issues but he is one healthy little bugger - thank God!
You are so right...with EVERYTHING we know today why would she put that child at risk? I never asked her...I always have to be the peacemaker...Her oldest has ADD, asthma, allergies and she smoked with her...hopefully my nephew won't have those same issues.
