Drink plenty of water. That will help rid the body of the toxins caused by smoking. Also, when you have a craving...make sure to breath deeply. This will mimic smoking and get you over the hump. Remember that a craving only lasts about 3 to 5 minutes so it is pretty easy to get by it.
Having a real reason to stop smoking is the best way to quit! Always remember why it is that you want to stop and keep the dedication. You will get through this and you will be so happy that you did. Think of all the money that you will save. Take your fiancé on a vacation with the money. If that isn't an incentive, I don't know what is!

Just be strong! I tried to quit 3 years ago using the patches, nicotine gum, nicotine inhaler, and I even had a support counselor - none of it worked for me! My hubby suprised me by quiting the same day I did, trying to support me. That was a nightmare! A couple should NEVER quit smoking at the same time! So I'm still smoking.
You have to be ready and seriously want to quit or it's not going to work. If nothing else, maybe your doctor can give you the new meds they have to help.
Good luck and I hope you make it! If you find something that works, let us know! I need the help!

Hey your reason isn't stupid at all.. It's always easier to keep a commitment with someone else, rather than ourselves. We have no problem dissapointing ourselves b/c we know we'll get over it, but it's harder to dissapoint others. I actually quit smoking for my son b/c he was asthmatic. Even though i never smoked around him, I always went outside, his doctor said that he is still getting second hand smoke when i carry him and that strong smell is on me. Anyway, Whether u believe me or not it's true... I prayed.. I asked the Lord to help me, and give me the stregnth to do this. As long as in your heart you really wanna do it, God will definitely take that desire away. All u have to do is ask and believe. SO, to make a pretty long story short, I woke up the next morning and I did'nt feel the desire to smoke anymore. True story..

I adopted the mentality of the easiest thing in the world to do is nothing. It's easy to not go buy cigarettes, it's easy to not go smoke. It's a mental block you have to get around. Get off the patch as soon as you can, too. Staying on the patch for too long just gives your body the nicotene you are trying to stop getting. You have to get away from the nicotene completely at some point. "Cold turkey" is actuallying showing better results in studies than some stop smoking aids, because people that just stop actually want to stop.

Try to keep yourself busy doing something else at the times you normally would be smoking. If you're busy, it's hard to miss the cigarette. Tell everyone you know that you're quitting so they can keep you honest - it's hard to go back after you've told everyone you're quitting. Try not to carry enough money on you to buy a pack. Good luck!

read "the easy way to quit smoking" by allen carr. been off the things four years because of it. and i know about eight other people that read it and quit overnight. the patch hasn't really worked for anyone i know. there also allen carr clinic that'll have you clean in a day. they cost a little bit but you'd be saving in the long run.

The patch is good but you also need to fill the time used smoking as well try sugar free gum to chew on when you feel the need to smoke. Good luck.

yOU HAVE TO USE THE RIGHT QUANTITY OF PATCHES YOU NEED PER DAY AND NIGHT. i DID AFTER 30 YEARS OF HEAVY SMOKING. iT WAS EASY. iF YOU SMOKE A PACK OR TWO A DAY YOU NEED 21 MG PATCHES IN DAY TIME AND 10 MORE AT NIGHT. SEEK HELP FROM A SMOKE CESSATION THERAPIST. i QUIT FROM THE 2ND DAY WITHOUT HAVING WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. YOU CANALSO CHEW GUM WITH THE PATCHES. IF YOU FEEL AN URGE TO SMOKE, CHEW NICOTINE 2 MG GUM OR WAIT 1 MINUTE THE FEELING WILL SUBSIDE. GOOD LUCK

Two quotes:
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
Theodore Roosevelt
Never give up. Never, ever give up.
Winston Churchill
Good luck, your body will thank you a thousand times over.
