Hi James,

Being that you're based in Australia, you'll naturally need to find Australian distributors. A great place to start is the Microsoft Australia Authorised Distributors on the Microsoft Partner Program Web site at
http://www.microsoft.com/australia/partner/productresources/distributors.aspx

HOWEVER, being that it's 2006 and not 1996, I'd be negligent if I didn't warn you that your business model should probably not be based exclusively on selling hardware, software, and peripherals.

Rather, you should really develop a business plan that focuses on the MUCH more lucrative value-added services side of the business.

And in particular the part of the computer consulting industry that focuses on small businesses with 10-50 PC's.

Most Australian computer consulting companies that I've trained find that the profits on product reselling are strictly a bonus... and that hourly- or project-based computer consulting is what REALLY pays the bills.

That said, many choose to only resell products to those companies with which they already have a consulting relationship.

Best of luck in getting your venture off the ground PROFITABLY!

It is pretty difficult to compete against the big guys as they are able to buy massive quanities of cheap components and pay next to nothing for their Windows O/S. Probably your best bet is to compete against them by offering a high quality product without all the corporate approved malware.

Sorry, but you should have done your homework before you began your venture.

I wish you all the best, but you don't start something without first counting the cost.
