next time Cane Corso /DOG ......is going to try to kill me.?

Question

I walk home from work everyday.And I wonder if this is going to be my last day in one piece.There is this large (Cane corso) that wants to attack me for a second time.((Apparently the CANE CORSO is way more dangerous than a pitbull)) The first time I had to get 32 stitches in my leg.And where I live, a dog is allowed 3 strikes.
It's not the dog fault,only the stupid owner.
At least 3 time's a week the dog is roaming free.And on one of his adventures,he all most killed a german shepard.I am soo scared that this 140 lbs dog is going to use it's last strike on me.
Any advice on what you would do,if you were me?.
I need to protect myself without seriously hurting the dog.....HELP
NOTE: every time I call the police ,the dog is already back in the house.And when question,they totally deny that the dog was loose.
The police always tell me it out of there hands..................

I was going to suggest pepper spray, too. I am not sure it would help with a big monster like that. Is there any way you could snap a picture of the dog loose and see if the dumb police believe you then? These pple sound like idiots. Why should a dangerous animal get three chances? To make sure it completely kills you this time? Those people are going to end up with a serious lawsuit on their hands. I hope you get your problem solved. If you had to have 32 stitches, what would that have done to a small child?
