I walk home from work everyday. And I wonder if this is going to be my last day in one piece. There is this large (Cane corso) that wants to attack me for a second time. The first time I had to get 32 stitches in my leg.And where I live, a dog is allowed 3 strikes.
It's not the dog fault, only the stupid owner.
At least 3 time's a week the dog is roaming free. And on one of his adventures,he all most killed a german shepard.I am soo scared that this 140 lbs dog is going to use it's last strike on me.
Any advice on what you would do,if you were me?.
I need to protect myself without seriously hurting the dog.....HELP
NOTE: every time I call the police ,the dog is already back in the house. And when question, they totally deny that the dog was loose.
The police always tell me it out of there hands..................

You dont' say how old you are, and you don't also point out how there may be another route to your home.

But again, that's not your question. What I would try is getting a big stick, something long but easy to carry, like a walking stick. What we here in teh South call a "Puppy Popper" If you are approached by a dog , you hold the stick in front of you while calling for help. Don't try to hit the dog, just use both hands on the stick and keep it between you and the dog while you make a lot of noise and shout for help (and witnesses).

Another trick used by more than one person I know is to carry a small "Self-Opening" umbrella. When the dog approaches, you point the umbrella at the dog and push the button, making it open very quickly, thus startling the dog. Again, keep the open umbrella between you and the dog while you shout for help (and again, witnesses).

Walking with a friend, or in a group also may keep the dog from approaching you. And if yo uhaven't already, consider the long way home as a viable option.

Can you take a different way home? Even if it's the long way around, wouldn't that be better than being attacked? Try getting in touch with an animal shelter or the S.P.C.A. They should be able to help. If there is an S.P.C.A. in your state, they should have jurisdiction on parts of the state anyway. For instance, I live in Texas, there is an S.P.C.A. In Dallas & one in Houston. We report to the one in Dallas cause we live in the northeast part of Texas.

Go buy a dog whistle, I hope this helps. Have you called your local animal control office? If nothing else go to the TV station in your area to bring light to this uncontrolled animal.

And check your local laws on dogs/dog control
