Well, this one is a no-brainer. Florida has hurricanes, Texas has tornados, both can be unbearably hot, there are crocodiles in Florida, and no shade in Texas. Hmmm. on the other hand, Bellevue, Washington, has the cool breezes of the Pacific Ocean, the tree-covered mountains, the crocodile free rivers where you can kayak, canoe or float around in tubes, if you drive up to the mountains (about an hour away from Mt. Baker) you can ski in the winter, you can ride a bike all year round -- is this starting to sound pretty good to you? Well it is. You're close to Seattle, which is a large enough city to cater to all your cultural needs, and all your shopping whims, but far enough away that you can have open spaces around you.
Enjoy your new job and your new home in Bellevue....

Most of my answers seem to start the same way:

IT DEPENDS.

What are you looking for?

If you want to be close to the mountains, don't mind rain, and favor a short commute to a cosmopolitan center, then Bellevue, WA is for you.

If you like hot, dry weather, don't mind thick regional accents, and like a choice between beef and beef, then you want Plano, TX.

If you like being around a lot of New Yorkers and Chicagoans, want a semi-tropical climate, and are not afraid of hurricanes, then go to Weston, FL.

My advice: Look at the job offers carefully. You can adapt to climate and social conditions. You want to be sure that you uproot your present life for the kind of job that you'll enjoy, work with people who are friendly and helpful, and have adequate opportunity for advancement.

Also, look at the total employment package. What kind of benefits are offered. If the company provides health insurance, is your health coverage through a PPO, HMO, etc. Will you get your choice of doctors, or just anyone who happens to be free when you go for a check-up or health difficulty.

Does the company offer an investment plan for retirement. You may be very young and not concerned about retirement, but any financial consultant will tell you that you better start saving now. in some cases, an employer will match your contributions.

The bottom line is this: Choose the job, not the place where it's located.

Florida is to hot and humid in summer, Plano Texas is to hot. Bellevue has a much more moderate climate. They do experience a lot of wet weather and fog. Nearby Seattle is a great place to visit, better year round than most places in Florida. I would choose Washington over Florida and most parts of Texas. It is up to you, however, and depends on what you like.

it depends on which type of climate you prefer. I personally love Western Washington. Bellevue is a bridge away from Seattle. The pay is good there and there is so much to do there, but you must enjoy rain and a cooler climate. Florida is nice, but its a tropical area and I dont know about Texas, except that its a hot climate in parts. You have to decide where you would be happy. Do some research prior to picking. Good luck

I would have to say Bellevue, Washington. No humidity. Close to the mountains. No hurricanes. The people in Washington are friendly. Lots of job opportunities in the Seattle/Tacoma area, in case you ever need to find another job. If you move there, you can say hi to my sister in Auburn, Washington. Very beautiful countryside.

Drawback, it does rain a lot in the pacific north west. But I would take that over extreme humidity any day!

I absolutely love the Bellevue/Seattle area. Western Washington has skiing/mountains/hiking, oceans, rivers, lakes, great restaurants, awesome yearly events/competitions (sea to ski, Seattle to Portland biking competition, Seafair), farmer's markets. There is a ferry system, islands, orcas, concerts, It is absolutely beautiful. The climate is mild, it does rain quite a bit but there is a lot of green! It is a liberal area with a lot of activism. Vancouver Canada to the north and Portland, Oregon to the south are also beautiful. Good Luck with your move where ever you end up!

I've lived in Florida- good money, the beach, wild life, but it gets old quick. I haven't lived in Texas but it's TEXAS. Enough said. I currently live in WA. Lived and worked in Seattle (20 mile west of Bellevue). To much good to tell you in this format but you won't regret moving to western Washington.

I lived in Seattle for 5 yrs and loved every minute I was there. I also lived in Dallas for a few years and loved it as well. If I had the choice and Id move back to the Seattle area. The cost of living is alittle more than the other 2 places, and it doesnt rain as much as people say.

Anywhere but Florida. You will have nothing but headaches with traffic and high prices, and Weston is kind of out in the middle of the Everglades, so its a trek to go anywhere thats fun. Id say Washington but anywhere but Florida!
