from experience, huggies are great. yes they are a little more expensive but when you think about it its worth it. some of the other brands don't hold anything. others could give the baby a rash. Or until he cant fit them the swaddlers are great also. but they only have ceratin sizes. I tried them all and those are the best ones. As for the sizes. Newborn for now and hes gonna need diapers for a while so if you feel you need to get a size or two bigger, he will grow into them. I'm sure you will get diapers for your baby shower also.

You will not need too many newborn diapers most of the time.
The hospital usually gives you a few too but most hospital don't even use newborn just size one.
I would buy a few 1's and 2's.
Pampers Premium work great. Huggies I have had a problem of poop coming up the back or out the sides and so have two of my friend and the both have boys.
I have three children and have watched many and Most people I know use Pampers.
I have tried and like the Meijer brand and they woke great for younger kids My 1 year old will use them but not my 3 year old. You can get away with cheap diapers while the are little.
If you go to the different parent web sites and diaper companies they will send you free samples and coupons.
Pampers does it for every stage and send you coupon for between $1-2.50 off.
If you are trying to stock up on diapers now to lessen the cost while you are off I would actually suggest buying yourself gift cards for where you plan on buying them you may end up buying a bunch of diapers that you don't really care for. This is also great for if you are planning one buying formula that gets real expensive especially if they have to be on a special kind. Every baby is different and it really depends on them what kind is going to work the best for them.
Good luck to you and congratulation

First of all, Luvs are the best brand for quality and price. Babies take to different diapers. Don't worry about the "Huggies" / "Pampers" they are too expensive. However do not go with the cheap ones like store names because the sizes tend to be different and the quality isn't as good. Sizes 3 and 4 are a size they stay in for a while. That's typically at about 9 months to 18 months they may stay in that size if you have an average weight child. Best of Luck!

You really can't answer this question... it depends on how big you baby is and you wont know that until the big day . They should give you some in the hospital. I would buy a pkg or two of size 1... and go from there. I never liked the newborn diapers with the belly button cut out... it made it worse in my opinion, the edge would rub on the cord/button. Plus some babies are skin sensitive to some brand of diapers. If this happens, the tip there would be to call the company and let them know they should offer to reimburse you for your purchase price[ keep your reciepts]
If you have to stock up KEEP your reciepts and you can return the diapers to the store for exchange. Walmart is great for that.
Also if you had a shower & got diapers find out where they were purchased in case you need to return them as well.
Congratulations on the baby. Enjoy every minute!!!!

Congratulations on the impending arrival of your new baby!
The expense of diapers over the course of the coming years is going to astonish you! It is a great idea to stock up in preparation for the arrival. Definitely get a couple of boxes of the newborn diapers, as well as several boxes of the next two sizes. You can always use a slightly larger diaper on a baby, but using one that is too small is never a good idea. Save the receipts for the diapers, by either attaching it to the packages, or keeping it in a folder in case the baby grows out of the smaller diapers. The same holds true when buying ahead for clothing, but here you must factor in the various seasons and calculate the child’s age during that season.
One suggestion to help defray the high cost of diapers is to suggest that gifts given by the entire office for the baby or at baby showers be various sizes of diapers. Of course, individuals should have the freedom to purchase a gift from their heart for the baby.
For those of us that shop the discount-racks at various retail stores, and then buy items based on our guess of the baby’s size during a particular season, you need a system that allows you to put the clothes away until the baby needs that size. Some of the small clear plastic tubs or small cardboard boxes work great for this. Put a label on the container indicating the sizes in each container. One of my friends went as far as to wash the clothes, dry them, and put them in zip lock bags. This allowed her to have the clothes ready the day the baby grew into them. She also noted on the zip lock bags who gave the gift to them. That way when she made pictures, she could send copies to the buyers showing the baby wearing the outfits bought long ago. If you have a receipt (and the tags) for those clothes, put it in the zip lock bag in case you need to return them for some reason.
Congrats once again and good luck!!

i would get some newborn and size one diapers because that is hwat the baby will be in fist. I would say get about 2 packages a week. And since you are on a tight income you dont have to buy pampers or huggies.Try Luvs they are good.Plus there are generic diapers like parents choice from wal mart i think they are like 5.96 a package. as for baby wipes try and make sure they are scent free because alot of babys break out from the perfume. But thats your choice your baby may not.If you are really strapped for cash i think that if you have a salvation army they maybe able to help you with diapers when baby gets here.Wish ya look and congrats

I would suggest buying Parents choice diapers. I would suggest getting 2 boxes of size 1 diapers and 2 of size 2. Depending on how big the baby is already.

Don't buy too many newborn size diapers. If you have a larger baby, they won't wear them long. Just get one or two packages and then tape the receipt to the package in case you end up having to return it. Then get a couple of packages of size 1. If I remember right, size 2 and 3 are the ones they stay in for quite a while.

Stock up on size 2's. The newborn or size 1's don't fit for long as they cover the smallest weight margin and baby puts weight on pretty quickly. Size 2's and 3's should get you through the first year (on average).
As for what kind...I buy Huggies and Pampers. I like the Pampers for newborn but Huggies for 2's and 3's as the waist fits better (my sons all had a bit of a belly so fit was important so they wouldn't leak!)
Good luck!!

i've always used huggies after many trial and errors with other brands. i have 2 boys and have learned that the huggies supreme leak the least. you probably don't need to buy any newborn size diapers because the hospital will send you home with some. go for size 1. get the biggest package you can find and this size might even be available in a box. the larger the package the more you save. not much, but it adds up.
below are 3 links, one for huggies one for pampers and one for luvs. i know on the huggies and pampers websites you can join the club and receive coupons and stuff in the mail. i've never joined the luvs club so i don't know what they provide, but i know the luvs brand is a little cheaper so try them to see if they work for you. i've also added a link to gerber. you don't have to wait until your baby starts on baby food to join gerber. if you join now you will receive monthly booklets with advice and info and coupons for their bottle products and food. these clubs are all free.
