I have found a car I like.... the seller met me in London, not at his address, and everything was perfect as fas as the car was concerned. What's the best way of exchanging money for car? is there a secure way, or do I have to pay into his account and risk him never showing up while the money clears? never done it before. Also what forms and stuff do I NEED TO FILL IN? any suggestions welcomed

Never pay money into someones account for a car and never buy a car off someone that won't sell you the car from their own address. You can check their address matches the documents.

I would walk away and find another car.

There will be a log book with the car. It's a Green DVLA Document which will list his address as the owner and the names of the previous owners with dates.

You will keep a slip from the bottom of the form, then you will both sign another part of the form and you will need to send it to the DVLA in Swansea.

You can check the history of the car on the AA's website. This will tell you if the car has been written off by insurers and whether the car has any outstanding money owed on it. This costs about 40pounds and you will need the chassis number of the car and Reg number to complete the check.

Be very careful with the car,, it could be a ringer, check ALL the serial numbers against the v5 document, which is the only document you need to fill out.
As for exchanging money, DONT GIVE HIM ANYTHING till you have the car available to drive away.
This whole purchase sounds a little dodgy, hope it goes well.

if it was one of those cars you see at the side of the road and the seller didnt even meet you at his house then stay the hell away from this type of deal! if the car has been clocked, ringed, insurance write off then you lose out every way you could think off!

bet all you have is a mobile number?? ( which after you have exchanged cash will be turned off and never answered again )

If you are going to do it by meeting at a place it will have to be cash fo car.

No seller would let a car or any item go without cleared funds or cash.

The above answers are giving you some good advice.

Ignore them at your own risk.

Stick the car right up his arsehole.
Works everytime.
