Currently I can't get out of classic crossover (the albums I am listening to are incredibly beautiful!).
Generally it's jazz - and the reasons are complex. I don't know if I will go back to it, but:
1. I like oldies, especially musicals - and Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and Judy Garland really introduced me to the genre.
2. I had a very difficult period of my life, about half a year, that I spent with my father and stepmother, and the only thing that kept me together was the music that they were listening to - jazz - they introduced me to some wonderful artists.
3. Jazz can always surprise me, and the best ones come with songs that I know - then the new interpretations my keep me listening to them over and over for hours. Wonderful talents there, both in mastery of technique, and in improvisation.

I like R&B, hip hop and gospel. I think most of the time the music I listen to is for the beat of the music. Very seldom do I stop and listen to the words. When I am down are feeling blue then I will pay attention to the words. I think thats a male thing I guess. I like the beat of the music and how you can flow with it.

It depends on the mood I'm in what I'm listening to when I'm sitting relaxing or reading isn't what I'd listen to while doing housework or getting ready to go out.
The two I listen to most often is Gary Allan & pop from the 80's

"The Motown Sound" Its just so sexy to listen to, Even the dance music is sexy. Listen to Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" and you will know what i mean. or "The Four Tops" singing, "Its all in the Game" Its the voices, you can hear the gospel element in it. Just thinking about it makes me go gooey.
