Last night my computer got connected via router & adapters to my mom's computer downstairs so I have the Internet up here too. Now, I have Windows XP & always had the option of when I turned on the computer that I would choose which user I wanted to be, My picture & name, My brother's picture & name, or My mom's picture & name. Well last night on accident I was trying to network my computer & my moms computer so we could share printers, etc. Except I screwed it up from lack of experience & now when I turn on my computer it comes to this screen & I have to type in my user name & password & sign on. It's like the computers you would have at school where you type in your school ID & password. I tried a system restore several times but it never worked. Can someone please help me get back to the way my computer originally was !!!!!!!!! Or give me a number or site or something so I can ask someone else. Thanks!!! =)

ps - i can't get on to that control panel screen everyone is telling me to go to. it doesn't work. a message box comes up & says " A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen & Fast User Switching. To restore these features , you must uninstall the program. The following file name might hrlp you identify the program that made the change: GTGina.dll"
After searching the Internet & my computer I discovered that "GTGina.dll" is part of Symantec's prgram "PCanywhere". But I went to the registry editor & searched my computer's database & I did not have PCanywhere installed on my computer.

Listen, you are currently working with a "limited account" which stops you from making any major changes to the computer. This is not a bad thing by any means. Are you certain your parents did not set this up? If so you need to discuss this issue with them. The program could be on their computer and your computer would be affected as it is now "networked" to theirs. But it will not show up in Add/Remove or anywhere in your registry or system as it is NOT installed on your system.
Now, if your parent(s) did not install this software you may have had it pre-installed on your computer or any computer now on the network and it very well could have lain dormat untill an action caused it to activate. I had a simular problem with a photo program which was in the hidden files and folders which was really odd, but there you have it, it WAS there and when I tried removing a program from the same vendor it triggered an "installation" of the "hidden" program. I know, it is odd, I was pissed off big time, but it still occurred, regardless. What triggered it was my attempting to remove the trial version. Somehow the installers at the manufacturer made a mistake of putting the entire package on my system with the trail version. The trial version was only suppose to activate installation IF I paid the purchase price for the full featured version. It is a trick some manufacturers are using. They install a trial and when you buy it the system is triggered to install it from where it is hidden on your system instead of a download from the site. This little trick saves the company time and overhead by having the program they just assume you will "want" anyway after using their oh so wonderful trial, so they install it in the hidden files and folders, to be installed when a purchase activates it. YES, this is wrong!!
So, you are going to need to contact Symantic. They will need to provide you with a special "clean up" tool. This is a free tool, so don't be fooled if they try to tell you that you have to pay for it. They are required by law to provide these tools to consumers who no longer want their product on their systems. Security suits are especially difficult to get rid of as the security features have to plug deep into the system in order to carry out their functions in protecting the system or carry out other security duties like keeping out unautherized users such as limited account holders.
Go online to Symantics home page and then go to the support page. There you may need to do a search for the removal tool. It would help if you could find the computer the program is installed on and go into its properties to get the full version name and number. This will assist in finding the correct removal tool.
It you can not locate the tool on the website find the phone number to tech support and call them. They will e-mail you the link to the tool. Just download it and follow the instructions for use. Once the tool is run on your system it should fix this problem.
Now, having passwords to enter accounts is an important security feature. Sure it can be a pain in the behind, but it is also a much larger pain in the behind of those who may wish to invade and take over your system and turn it into a zombie which spits out spam and other nasties usually without your knowlege it is occurring. I highly suggest keeping each account password protected and only using limited accounts for daily use, using administive accounts for special needs like downloading and installing programs and making changes to configuration. The level of access an invader will have depends solely on the account they have access to. A limited account will limit them to only what the account allows users to do. An administative account gives FULL access and will provide full access to the hostile take over cracker.
Good luck in fixing this problem. Check with your parent(s) before contacting Symantic, as you are currently in a limited account. If your parent(s) are not responsible for this program being in the network, then you will need to use your mom's administrater account to fix this issue.

Go to Control Panel, then double click on User Accounts.
Then, choose "Change the way users log on or off".
Check the box "Use the Welcome Screen", and click Apply Options.
You're done.
*Edit*: Damned, late by 19 seconds. First answer is so lame.
