What are stereotypes about your country, religion or culture that you find untrue and which are actually true?

Slaquer 695(couldn't you chose more complicated name- how did you put this fraction?) - I am disappointed - actually I was considering chosing Canada for and answer "Which continent other than yours you would chose to live".
Is not ruled out yet since people living there seem to be exceptionaly nice. I wouldn't mind to sit in an igloo with them eating doughnuts by the fire:)

Well...am having a bit of a problem but they are ALL TRUE !

1. We are rude
2. We eat weird food
3. We surrunder all the time
4. We don't shave
5. We smell
6. We think we are the best
7. We are the WORST lovers in the world
8. Our accent is definitely unsexy.
9. We are not hot !
10. We all wear berets !
11. We only have bicycles
12. We play nothing else but accordeon
13. We make the crappiest movies in the world.
14. We lie and gets the oil too......
15. We still live in the Middle Ages.
16. We have the worst singers in the world
17. We like to attack everybody else (headbutting is acceptable)
18. We all smoke non-stop.
19. We are the fattest people in the world
20. We are pissed from 8.00 a.m onward.
21. We hate people who do not speak our language
22. We produce the crappiest wines and food in the world.
23. We have no idea what a train looks like.
24. Our philosophers are pathetic
25. All our monuments are made out of concrete.

I come from a young developing country (Canada), but still there are few established stereotypes:

We live in igloos. TRUE - when it's June and people choose to watch hockey inside an ice box, what difference does it make whether your igloo is made of ice or concrete?

We only think about ice hockey. FALSE - ice hockey dominates from September to June, but once the season is over our thoughts turn to ROAD hockey.

We are much different from Americans. TRUE - we shop at Walmart, Best Buy, listen to American music (or Canadian music provided the performer made it big in America first), watch Seinfeld reruns (etc. etc), but are way way different y'all ?!?

We don't have electricity or other advanced technology. TRUE - what do we do for fun in the summer? Go camping where we dig our own toilets and make a fire to cook our food.

Wayne Gretzky is our best athlete of all time (hockey player). FALSE - it's Steve Nash, the basketball player - according to ME.

PS: The ANGLOPHONES DO NOT LIKE THE FRANCOPHONES. FALSE - we juss LOOOVE to mock zere fenny weay of talKeeng!

UNTRUTHS

1. That there are kangaroos and koala bears everywhere - even in surburbia. I have never seen either except in captivity

2. That Australians eat shrimp cooked on the barbie everynight. 'Shrimp' or prawns as we tend to call them are quite expensive and not eaten that often by everyone

3. That it is always hot in Australia. It is damn freezing at the moment!

4. That all Australians speak with the same accent as Crocodile Dundee or Outback Jack. Not true. Most people sound nothing like this
